Cleveland Sports Digest: Our Why

Giving myself ~300 words to explain what Cleveland sports means to me is nearly impossible, but nothing in Northeast Ohio comes easy, so I will try. Simply put, I don't know if there's anything outside of family, friends, and community that has meant more to me throughout my life than Cleveland sports.

Since I was a kid, Cleveland sports has been my #1 passion. In my younger years, I imagined being LeBron in the backyard hitting a game-winners, when I played catch with a friend, I imagined I was CC Sabathia (and my friend imagined he was Victor Martinez), and of course, when playing football, I imagined I was QB for the Browns when leading my classmates onto the battlefield at recess. Unfortunately, there were no Browns QBs to look up to!

Then, In high school, I spent less time paying attention in class than I should have and more time building out the Indians/Guardians lineups, playing out different draft scenarios for the Browns, and thinking about who the Cavs should acquire at the deadline to build the perfect team around LeBron. Those were the days!

Cleveland sports has given me some of the best moments of my life and the ability to experience those moments with family and friends. Whether it was going to countless games with my family, spring training with my dad, or watching Cleveland win its first championship in decades with 30 of my closest family and friends in my den, these moments are what it’s all about.

While in the win-loss column, it feels like Cleveland has taken more than it has given, when it comes to life, the opposite could not be more true. I love these teams, I love their histories, and I love this city.

I am starting Cleveland Sports Digest to celebrate the moments that make us proud and to deepen my connection with the city, the teams, and the people I love.
